The Succession of Clarion
(Brin) Traces the histories of the Clarion Kings of Duatha, beginning with the Battle of the 7 Hosts and traces the lines of succession through the noble houses of the northwest in exhaustive detail. 20 years out of date, but rather topical since the Regicide (Wellundia)
The Fall of Empire: The Last Days of the First Empire
(Imperial) A highly lauded scholarly text on the Cyron Empire, with a focus on the latter era, from the Kasparian transition to the decline, and the eventual capitulation to Clarion. Written 25 years ago. (Torvaria).
Under the Unicorn Banner: The Era of Solidarity
(Imperial) A history of the Clarion Dominion with a scholarly and encyclopedic scope. Written 25 years ago. (Delon)
An Economic History of the South (revised)
(Brin) A recent translation from the original Imperial, reprinted in Harkrest with a new annotated addendum to cover the last 25 years. Incisive, well-researched, and thought-provoking. (Torvaria)
Corpus Medica
(Imperial) Although lacking some of the most recent developments in medicine, this ancient medical manual from the last era of Helicosian antiquity remains the seminal text on anatomy and the physician’s art. (Aesos)
Atlas of the Known World, by Count Jacopo Bramante
(Imperial) A defining work in the field by Bramante and his cartographers, despite now being 80 years old. (Capracia)
Imperial Codex of Secret Orders
(Imperial) This text is primarily an intelligence manual, no doubt produced as an internal Imperial document. It covers various orders and cults known to be operating across Duatha. A large portion of the material appears to be quite old, compiled during the First Empire, with updated entries covering the Clarion Dominion and War of the Phoenix. It is stamped with the date 3008 AC. Possession of this manual may be illegal, and one wonders how Lucifero obtained his copy. (Torvaria)
A History of the Ancients: From Sea to Sea, by Al-Karaz Arastani
(Talumian) A very old, very exhaustive collection of texts covering ancient cultures and peoples across the Three Continents, including the early age of Men, the First Men, and even some chapters devoted to civilizations of the Fading Folk.
The Sisterhood of Night
(Sankari) Less of a scholarly work than a form of religious tome, detailing the traditions of Sankar’s infamous shadow cults. The text is written in an archaic Sankari dialect, and seems to cover spiritual beliefs, rules of conduct, and arcane rituals, as well as instruction in the assassin’s arts. It also contains a number of hand-painted plates, which can get quite spicy. (?)
Lucifero’s Maps *
(various languages) This is not a single book, but an extensive dossier assembled by Lucifero of maps from various sources which covers an assortment of major cities across Duatha. Some are simple street maps, while others seem to detail sewer systems, waterways, or parts of surrounding countryside. The collection is eclectic. Some include dates, labels, and notes, while others remain more mysterious.
