BLUE CORAL EXTRACT

magical stimulant

Blue Coral Extract is a potent stimulant derived from a rare magical luminescent coral-like substance found only in deep Fae-touched subaquatic environments.

The true nature of this substance is unknown, but it is likely  invasive, existing only in secret places where the Veil between worlds is thin. The wild Faerie magic contained within the Blue Coral has dangerous warping properties that can be unlocked through processing.

LOS MENDIGOS

The Beggar Clans

THE MENDIGOS PEOPLE...

The people collectively known in the Southlands as Mendigos came originally from many different regions around Duatha and beyond.

Some were nomads from the reaches of Malochovia, or even from distant Phinsk or Rastania. Others are known to be descended from the Talumar peoples who once occupied Iagos during the era of the heretical Daramadi Caliphate. Still others are rumoured to be descendants of Sankarite exiles from antiquity.

What unifies these disparate folk is their place on the fringes of society, and their rootless and peripatetic lifestyle. Over time, different groups of these nomadic peoples have crossed over, bartered, intermarried, or banded together, forming new bonds of elective kinship.

The MORTLAC DISGRACE

a forgotten house of dark repute...

The scandal of the House of Mortlac unfolded twenty-five years ago (Annum Cyrona 2985), and ended with disgrace and the fall of the noble line. An investigation sanctioned by the Clarion Court discovered gross abuses by the Count De Mortlac in his administration of the Greval province, exposing decades of corruption and petty despotism. The Count was arrested and executed on charges of theft of crown revenues, sedition, and acts of treason against the Clarion Throne.

But De Mortlac's crimes against the people of Greval were greater than most knew...

THE LOOM

A Tool for Weaving

In the annals of the ancients, before the Empire of Cyrona, in the age when the God-Kings of Aesos were still young, tales were told of a tool of surpassing ingenuity used in the villages of Common Men, capable of weaving threads of various materials into carefully crafted textiles of both beauty and practical value...

LANGUAGES of DUATHA

Characters may begin with one common language, and additional languages equal to their Intelligence modifier. Characters may also learn languages from their Class, Race, or Background.

Most languages can be treated as 'language families'. A speaker of one language may sometimes be able to communicate with speakers of other languages in other scenarios where the dialects have similar roots (though not without some risk of misunderstanding).

Likewise, speakers of common languages may find that regional variants can often have their own particular idioms and idiosyncrasies that can be occasionally confounding.

SAINT ORAN of the BURNING SUN

Saint of the Trine

Saint Oran of the Burning Sun (sometimes known as San Orando) is a Braicosi Saint with a controversial history.  In the days of the First Empire of Cyrona, Oran of Iagos was a famed soldier who pursued a quest into the burning deserts of Talumia. Several heroic deeds are attributed to him, and he gained a reputation for performing various miracles.

The BATTLE of OBRAU

The Emperor's Folly...

During the wars of secession that followed the Clarion Regicide (which are now called the War of the Phoenix in the Empire), a great battle was fought in Auspenheim, at the Valley of Obrau. This vast glen is found beyond the city of Auspenstadt, under the shadow of Mount Donnerquell.

It would become one of the most famous bloodbaths of the war, where armies of the newly-fledged Empire broke against a well-positioned alliance of Auspen Princes who wished to remain independent (or, as rumoured, sought to pledge instead to the King of Delon).

The CAGLIANNI ORDER

No Mercy Above Heaven...

The Caglianni are an enigmatic and mostly independent order of inquisitors, witch-finders and professional executioners. They are sanctioned by the Church of the Holy Wheel, but their order is rumoured to go back much further, originating in ancient times.

The WOLFHOUNDS

The Vollstreck Orden of the Kasparian Empire

The Vollstreck Orden is a strenuous order of knighthood founded in Torvaria shortly after the formation of the Kasparian Empire. One of many organizations granted broad sanction to maintain security within the boundaries of the Empire, their role is to execute the will of the Emperor and act as a military response to internal threats to Imperial order.

The VARANTINE ORDER

The  SCHOLA  SANTA  VARA  of  LADROA
----------------------------
The chapter house of the Varantine Order in Ladroa is located in the Puerto district. Customarily, traveling friends and members of the Order will check in when they arrive in a Varantine city to relay messages, render services, or to obtain board during their visit.

The waterfront location also means that the infirmary attached to the chapter house is where it can be easily accessed by the common rabble or incoming travelers sea travelers. In times past, the Schola Santa Vara would have been a quarantine location, and even now, ship-borne dead not buried at sea are often brought to the Order for funeral rites and disposal.
