FORGE HAMMER of KALKEUS

(magic tool)

It is unknown whether the Forge Hammer of Kalkeus was created deliberately to possess certain magical properties, or if the primal fires of the Great Furnace simply came to nest inside it over the centuries, and some memory of its master's craft was written upon it with every ringing strike.

The Hammer of Kalkeus mystically enhances the craft of the smith. Even without a fire, the Hammer can magically shape or join or repair worked metal objects in very short order.

It can also magically un-craft crafted metal objects, reducing them to component raw materials with only a few skilled strikes, in some cases uncoupling joints and even unbinding alloys.

This power can be used in combat as well. An object made of metal can be gradually unmade each time it is struck by the Forge Hammer, reducing the power and effectiveness of armour and weapons.

- the Hammer of Kalkeus is a large smith's hammer
- in combat, it functions as a Simple Melee weapon, dealing D6 damage
- no bonus to hit or damage, but it strikes as a magical weapon.

CRAFTING:
The hammer grants a user with the Smithing skill Advantage on all crafting checks with metal projects under workshop conditions. It also allows one to perform many crafting and repair tasks without the benefit of a forge. Crafting time is reduced by half.

COMBAT:
- on a hit, you may expend a Bonus Action to damage a foe's gear
- the target makes a Dex Save vs this effect
- DC = wielder's Smithing skill + attribute bonus + 8
- a weapon takes a permanent / cumulative -1 damage penalty
- shields / armour take a permanent -1 AC penalty
- if the penalty reaches -5 damage or 0 AC, the object is destroyed

*minor magic / masterwork items are resistant to this effect, and save at Advantage
*greater magic items save at Advantage, but fail this roll only on a total roll of 10 or less
*items may lose magical properties and/or performance (GM discretion)
