The SILVER BIRD

magical construct

A small magical songbird that appears to be crafted in white metal, and which is animated by mystical means. It is life-sized, and is able to fly for very short distances. Normally it prefers to perch on the shoulder of the last person to give it a command. 

The bird can perform tasks based on short list of six Elvish commands...

1. SING 

The bird simply sings, in a clear, pleasant twitter. The bird seems to have a mixed repertoire of natural birdsongs corresponding to a wide range of avian species, but also sometimes sings the more distinctive melodies of songs it has heard, or which are known to the owner. 

2. LISTEN

The bird listens intently to words spoken nearby, and records them with near perfect accuracy. It is unknown how much content it can hold in its memory, but it remembers these words only until it relates them for the first time. After this, its memory seems to be expunged. 

3. TELL

This command causes the bird to relate what it has listened to and recorded. 

4. SILENCE
This command has the effect of silencing the bird until it is given a new task. This will also cause it to stop any task currently in progress (ie: LISTEN)

5. READ
(It is unknown at this time what this command does)

6. SPEAK

(It is unknown at this time what this command does. )
