The MOON COURT

NOBLES of the SILVERED REALM

The Moonfae held great power in The Age Before, both on Earth and in the Faerie realms. The White-Gold King watched over the world from his palatial seat upon the the lunar surface, and was served by his Moon Court, a council formed by the most elevated nobles of the Silvered Realm.

These are no mere Elves, but highborn Sidhe - ethereal entities yet untethered to the mortal plane. They appear as very tall, elongated, colourless figures that seem always to shimmer with a flickering otherworldly light. They are ageless, nigh-immortal creatures with vast arcane power.

The houses of the Moonfae number twelve, and each is ruled by a Liege who bears the house regalia - symbolic artifacts fashioned as extensions of their own being.

My kind lived in harmony with this world
Long before mortal men, before even the Duathan
We gave ourselves to it, bound ourselves to its cycles

The Great Spirits here were awakened
By a breath of life from beyond the Veil
They are everlasting.

Your folk are but a passing affliction.
A season of storms and locusts and fire, consuming all
A destructive whim of wanton gods

Just as the sun sets, you will vanish from the world.
Not only you, but all your progeny, all you have built,
All the dreams you have dreamt of yourselves.

I will be sure of it.

SONBAHAR~RYASIL

The Dream of Autumn

In the ancient reaches of Arvanna the One-Forest, in the lands west of Imperial Torvaria, there lies a secret enclave of Wood Elves. Ensconced in a wild, wooded vale, there is a Faerie niche that exists in a state of perpetual mid-autumn. Here, the potent Seelie being known as the Lord Vermillion holds court in a realm called Sonbahar~Ryasil...

Aydaiken the Thorn is a prince of old Sidhe blood, the younger sibling to the late White-Gold King of the Moonfae. Blinded and exiled by his elder brother, the Thorn spent untold centuries brooding in solitude on the desolate edges of the Quiet Sea... an existence that no mortal being could endure.

Now freed from his bond of duty to his liege and brother, it is uncertain what path he will choose for himself and his people...

Suyumu Lumisadei is a female cloud giant of unusual size and power. She is an impressive and formidable being, but is also haughty, petulant, and vain.  She shows only contempt for humans, whom she refers to as scantlings, and treats like vermin.

Little is known about her origins, but she is skilled in the mystic arts, and seems to possess many magical treasures. She is highly knowledgeable about the lore of the Elder Ages. Although she appears to be youthful and hale, it is unknown how old she truly is, or how her kind experiences time. It is also possible that her appearance is sustained by the purifying effects of bathing in the sacred pool of Sils Volka every daybreak.

The MOONFAE

The Silvered Elves
The Moonfae were a race of Elves thought to have vanished from the world shortly after the advent of Common Men. They wielded great influence within the Unseelie Court and among the Elder Races in The Time Before.

Unlike most other Elves, the Moonfae did not fully shed their ephemeral Faerie nature and were seen as aloof even by the standards of their kind, with unfathomable moods and motives. They were reputed astrologers and keepers of arcane secrets, who blended Fae chaos magic and druidic mysticism with dark energies drawn from the ghostly planes of the netherworld...

Koray is a Knight Prior of the Beacon, second-ranked after Ilkay the New Moon. Koray is the keeper of the Order's history and laws. Milder than Ilkay but every bit as haughty, Koray behaves with a smug, sardonic edge that differs from the other's bluster. Koray is a potent spellcaster, and prefers to remain aloof from enemies, striking from afar with Fae magics rather than engaging in personal combat.

Along with his fellow Knight Prior, Koray, he was charged with the task of guarding the Dew-Kissed Tower that served as the portal to the White-Gold Palace. Although chosen to remain behind in the decaying Ashen Realm, potentially for all eternity, Ilkay was unwavering in his duty. As the first knight of his order, his honour was of paramount importance.

Esmeray the Dark Moon is of the Moonfae race, and a member of the Knights of the Beacon who were charged long ago with the task of protecting the domain of the White-Gold King.

When the plague of the Spite bled into the plane of the Moonfae, their world was plunged into everlasting gloam, and its people consumed by its curse. Since that time, Esmeray has acted as the last warden of the Ashen Realm -- patrolling its dead lands, slaying aberrations, and seeking out lost souls by the light of her magic Beacon.

Even as she fulfills her duty, she is haunted by the knowledge that she can never return to the White-Gold Palace herself due to the corruption that has nested in her flesh during her long vigil.

Elven champion
---------------------------------
Ht: 6'6  /  Wt: 170  /  Hair: black  /  Eyes: copper  /  Age: 500+?  /  Creed: Sylvan?

Naetharion is a high-ranking Elven warrior who goes by the title The Viridian Knight. He appears to be of the Sylvan creed, but of an ancient and high-blooded line. He serves as the sworn champion of the being known as The Lord Vermillion, and commands a small army of Wood Elves in his name.

Naetharion stands well over six feet tall, with beautiful androgynous features and a commanding gaze. True to his title, the Viridian Knight is clad in a magical armour of vines and bark, and broad leaves the colour of shimmering emerald and living green. Even his skin possesses an earthy olive cast... but his bright eyes flash with a fiery light.

He has the haughtiness common to his kind and station, but coupled with a noble bearing and stoic manner. He carries himself with languid ease even in his armour, and seems alert at all times. At will, he seems able to sprout a long leaf-like weapon from his palm, which may serve in as either a sword or a lance, which glows softly in his hands.

Naetharion also rides a strange Fae beast as a mount. It is the size of two large horses, with a fox's face, a stag's antlers, the long body of a six-legged ferret, and the wings of an enormous tawny moth. It is swift, loyal, and moves with a fierce, predatory grace.

The DUSK PRINCE

Archfae, Elemental, Lord of the Dying Light, Martyr of the Bleeding Lands

According to legend, his sire was the Wind of the Winter Solstice, and his mother was the Deathless Queen, godmother to the Alukah blood princes. Legend says he was born from a great egg of cinnabar crystal that hatched in the caldera of a sleeping volcano.

Owing to this lineage, the Prince possessed vast supernatural power. Part greater elemental spirit and part ethereal Archfae, it was said that he walked with one foot in the world of the living and the other in the realm of the dead, and for this reason he was known as the Dusk Prince...

The being known as the Margrave von Schimmel ( the "Count of Mold") is a very old, very strange creature -- equal parts faerie lord and primeval earth elemental. He is spiritually tethered to the realm of fungus and decay, granting him an array of magical abilities that are manifest through mushrooms, molds, and spores of all kinds. The full scope of his powers is unknown, but they are seemingly versatile and far-reaching.

GNOMES

( a k a   T i n k e r s ,   N o c k e r s ,   K a b o u t e r s... )

Among the Fading Folk, Gnomes are a minor race with a long but modest history. They are thought to be born of the primordial Earth like their cousins the Dwarves, but are more-strongly influenced by the wild energies of the Fae Realm. They are affiliated with the Seelie Court, but remain largely distant from its affairs, preferring grounded, ascetic lives of devotional labour, rather than a whimsical existence on the fringes of the Veil between worlds.

FAERIE GLASS

mythical substance

Faerie Glass is a material that appears in many legends and under different names. Objects made of this substance are strongly associated with the various Elder Races who ruled the world before the Era of Common Men. Most accounts agree that the Sidhe were the first race to craft wondrous crystalline items from this Faerie Glass (hence its name), but similar objects also appear in the legends of the Dwarves and the Duathan.

BUGBEARS

(  a k a   B o g i e   B e a r s ,   G o b l i n   B e a r s  )

Origins

Bugbears were among the many supernatural Faerie beasts created to serve the Unseelie Court in the age of the Goblin Kings. Charged with guarding the borders of Unseelie domains, these monsters are most at home in the deep woods under cover of night. Serving as sentries and trackers, they combine the fearsome natural traits of normal bears with dark Fae glamour and a malicious cunning.

The VAARA

t h e   N i g h t f o l k

Tales of vampires have echoed through human history. Sometimes they are depicted as evil spirits who seduce mortal victims. Other times, they are savage predatory monsters that stalk the night, and must be hunted down and destroyed.

The creatures now generally referred to as 'vampires' originated long before humans. In ancient times, they were called Alukah, and they shared the world with other Elder Races like the Elves and the Duathan. They had their own civilization and ruled large areas of Helicos through the late Mythic Age, shortly before the Advent of Man.

SPRIGGANS

Spriggans are a type of Faerie distantly related to Dwarvenkind, but infused with a volatile vein of wild magic that allows them to change their shape and size by invoking the ghost of their Giant ancestors.

Selfish, bad-tempered, and cruel, Spriggans are more dangerous than their stature and coarse manners would suggest...
