These enchanted Black Needles are forged in an unknown metal and imbued with a potent necrotic charge. Each is approximately 5 inches long, and is the width of a large nail, tapering on both ends to a sharp point. Close examination shows an extremely fine undulating groove pattern on their surface.

These tools were used by the Moonfae to kill the physical bodies of the spirits and Fae who served the court of Uluyan Kovalayan in the great hall of the Manse of the Winter Wind. Once the courtiers (all magical beings) were entrapped in magical statuettes, each was pierced by a black needle which slowly destroyed the physical substance of the creature trapped within. Those slain in this way remained trapped, but only as disembodied ethereal ghosts.

Any living creature pierced by a Black Needle suffers magical necrotic damage. So long as the needle remains embedded in them, the target suffer an additional 1HP of damage per turn, per needle, until they finally expire.

Additionally, someone who remains pierced by a Black Needle cannot heal normally, and magical healing is only at HALF effectiveness.

To remove a black needle requires only an Interaction, but doing so inflicts a final 1HP of damage in the process.

With some minor crafting, the black needles can be fashioned into darts. As thrown weapons, they inflict 1D4 necrotic damage. Although they can be grafted to arrows to increase their range, their damage will not be increased beyond 1D4

The negative energy infused into a Black Needle appears to be finite. As all the needles recovered from the Manse of the Winter Wind were previously-used, only a portion of their power remains. For this reason, each can only be used once more, before their charge is finally expended.
