The Urumi can slash any TWO adjacent targets within its reach, effectively making one attack into two. However, the blades are difficult to control. A Fumble with this weapon inflicts an immediate attack back upon the wielder.
The name “Kalai” means ‘the calling of birds” in the Sankarite tongue. It seems that name has also been inscribed on this urumi sword. This is fitting, as the flexing blades emit a warbling sound resembling a flock birds as they move through the air.
The Sankarite for whom the weapon was named wore the urumi in a special coiled sheath that wrapped around his waist like a girdle, making it surprisingly easy to conceal. However, sheathing the weapon again in this way requires at least a full turn. Once the Urumi Kalai is unleashed, the soft quivering sounds it emits make stealth rather impossible.
