This is an elegant silvery robe befitting a lord or lady of an Elven court. It has a faint star-and-moon patterning on it. However, it possesses enchantments that also make it much more than it appears to be.
When the wearer of the Quicksilver Robe wishes, they can take an Action to picture themselves in a different form of attire. The Robe will transform itself to match their mental image, largely filling in any gaps in imagination or precision with procedurally generated details based on the mental prompts it is given.
The forms taken by the Robe are always perfectly tailored and comfortable, unless the wearer expressly requests otherwise. The transformations of the Quicksilver Robe are both illusory and transmutational imitations. The physical form of the robe changes to mimic the textures and structures of the requested garment.
However all properties of the new form are visual. Any specific functional qualities are not duplicated (ie: armour offers no additional protection, furs do not keep you warm in winter, wet-appearing clothes will not guard against fire, etc). Portions of a simulated ensemble can be adjusted with a subsequent Action, but parts of it cannot be removed.
The Robe will not change the appearance of the wearer's face or body, and cannot be used to change their height or weight, nor does the actual weight of the Robe change. When the garment is removed, it usually returns to its original form within an hour.
The Quicksilver Robe is relatively lightweight. It does occasionally require cleaning to remove dirt, but in general its outer surface has enchantments to make it resistant to water and generally non-stick. It is very durable by most measures, but not indestructible - it may be burned, cut, or torn if it is put under significant stress. This damage seems to gradually self-repair over time, but in the short term, may be visible across different forms.
At the back of the collar, the robe has a small tag with fae glyphs, and tiny Elvish lettering advising that removal of the tag will void the warranty.
