Suyumu Lumisadei is a female cloud giant of unusual size and power. She is an impressive and formidable being, but is also haughty, petulant, and vain.  She shows only contempt for humans, whom she refers to as scantlings, and treats like vermin.

Little is known about her origins, but she is skilled in the mystic arts, and seems to possess many magical treasures. She is highly knowledgeable about the lore of the Elder Ages. Although she appears to be youthful and hale, it is unknown how old she truly is, or how her kind experiences time. It is also possible that her appearance is sustained by the purifying effects of bathing in the sacred pool of Sils Volka every daybreak.

HISTORY

Roughly a hundred years ago, Suyumu decided to take ownership of the sacred pool atop the mountain of Sils Volka, and made it her private bath. She was displeased to find that lowly humans were visiting the Duathan ruins of Sils Volka in order to partake of the pool's purifying waters. She had no intention of sharing with other creatures.

After subduing the two celestial serpents that had been left by the God-Titans to protect the sacred pool, Suyumu bound them with her sorcery and compelled them to serve as guardians of her new domain. From that time onward, unlucky pilgrims who visited the mountaintop never returned, and among the people of Silbernia, the ruins at the summit became known as an accursed place best avoided.

For a century, she visited her pool every day, arriving with dawn's first rays to bathe, and also to water her giant magical goat, Kivensoja. She made the journey to the mountain every day by employing the invisible arcane gateway atop the ancient Empyrean Steps at the site... itself a holdover from the time of the God-Titans.

DESCRIPTION

Suyumu stands approximately 22 feet tall. Her form is towering and robust, but not without a sense of noble grandeur. Her skin is pallid, her long hair is the colour of snow, and her eyes shine like molten gold. She has large ears, a broad nose, and small tusks. A pair of white horns sprout from her forehead, and are capped with gold.

Her body is decorated with gold bands and jewelry, and across her shoulders is a long mantle of brass scales that she wears like a cape. Hanging from her neck is a magical pendant shaped like a (giant) key. In one hand she carries her magical Cloud-Stirring Spear, a giant white-hafted weapon, with a black spearhead on one end, and a cudgel shaped like a golden head on the opposite end.

She used to go everywhere with her prized pet, the giant copper goat, Kivensoja, the Stone-Eater. Since the beast was beheaded by Mad Jack Tyrsson, this is no longer the case.

The Titans who first lived upon this peak warred with my ancestors

Their lofty ambitions drove them to build these steps
So they might ascend to another world

And make themselves Gods to all the petty beings to follow

Then the so-called First Men built this city
They tended this pool and worshiped at these steps

Until one day… they too faded away

After the disappearance of the Duathan

The God-Titans who watched over Sils Volka

Were content to wallow in the adulation

Of petty Scantlings like yourselves

Frail and short-lived, your elder blood thinned
And soiled like standing water

In time, they would grow weary of your mewling

Now, they no longer watch over this place

They do not listen for your prayers

They abandoned you and this world
Or were perhaps themselves replaced

So now no worthy claim remains
Upon the purity of this pool

When I came upon this place, I took it for my own
As a place to bathe, to meditate in solitude
And to water my goat, Kivensoja the Stone-Eater

See the waters shine; are they not magnificent?

Sadly, it was still plagued by Scantlings skittering about

Crying their unheard prayers to the winds

The Titans left their so-called guardians

But those ethereal serpents did a rather poor job

Like old dogs lazing in the kitchen, as the rats come and go

It took special sorcery to retrain them

And bind them to my will

But they were fearsome enough

To keep my bathing pool vermin-free

Until today...
