Ilkay was the most senior member of the Knights of the Beacon. Along with his fellow Knight Prior, Koray, he was charged with the task of guarding the Dew-Kissed Tower that served as the portal to the White-Gold Palace. Although chosen to remain behind in the decaying Ashen Realm, potentially for all eternity, Ilkay was unwavering in his duty. As the first knight of his order, his honour was of paramount importance.
Ilkay was an unusually large and powerful elf with a noble bearing and a particularly arrogant, boorish manner. He was clad in finely wrought black armour, but like all Knights of the Beacon, he wore no helmet. Although he was proficient in spellcasting, he preferred to defeat his opponents through force of arms in single combat.
Affixed to his armour were 5 small beacons, each housing a spirit flame that followed his commands. In his hand he carried a mighty hammer in which another spirit flame was housed. The hammer was bound to his soul, and he could call it to materialize in his hand if ever he was separated from it. Like Koray, he kept an enormous Unseelie Yeth Hound as a mount.
When Ilkay was provoked into battle and subsequently defeated by Jack Tyrsson, he yielded and consented to petition the White-Gold King to hear the party's story.
However, after leading them into the palace gardens, he was tricked by the Fae wretch Bitterling and seriously wounded by a large shard of Spite she had found hidden there. Despite their efforts to heal him, Ilkay was overcome by the Spite's curse, and forced the party to kill him once and for all.
