DESCRIPTION

Jenyeva Rosalya is a small-framed young woman with pale skin and long red hair. Her manner tends to be quiet and unassertive, but she observes the world around her keenly. She typically dresses in a light doublet and hose, often in Grey Stripes colours, and usually with a short hooded cape thrown about her shoulders. At her belt she carries several pouches and a dagger, and sometimes a small sword. She also owns a fine mail shirt of Elder make that she wears if expecting trouble. While in Ladroa, she usually wears a rabbit-shaped mask over her face.

PROFILE

Typically, Jenyeva tends to blend into her surroundings, making herself small and beneath notice whenever possible. Although experienced with confidence schemes, her introversion makes her poorly suited to selling deception, and instead she relies upon her talents as a pickpocket and burglar. When needed, she moves with surprising confidence and agility, ducking around obstacles and climbing nearby surfaces with practiced ease.

Jenyeva is a dreamer at heart. Too street-smart to be guileless, she still moves through the world with a sense of curiosity and wonderment. She is capable of defending herself, but avoids confrontation whenever she can. Even so, she can be brave (if not bold) when the job calls for it.

PRESENT STATUS

Jenyeva once made attempts to join the young roofdancer gang called The Cats, but failed to win the trust of their leader, Yasifa. Currently, she operates out of Ladroa's Colegio district, where she has a small garret apartment.

She remains in contact with the Tyrson Company - largely through Kian Grey, who has recruited her for some of his schemes. Acting as Kian's go-between, she became affiliated with the young Lady Belasca De Cinza of the Grey Stripes. Now she operates as a liaison between the Tyrson Company and the Stripes.

She has also become a friend of Ladroa's Mendigos gangs and has assisted in their integration into the Grey Stripes. The Mendigos youth call her "Chestnuts" - a nickname she is ambivalent about. She has recently become romantically involved with a young Mendigos leader named Riyad.

HISTORY

Jenyeva spent much of her early life in a remote abbey in Dobrinya after being abandoned there by her debtor father. She obtained rudimentary ecclesiastical schooling and was given a church surname, after Saint Rosalya of Koshkovia. Wistful and undisciplined, she was poorly-suited to cloistered life, and instead spent her days hiding in forgotten corners of the abbey, avoiding chores, or daydreaming on the roof of the old bell tower.

One day, a mendicant priest visited the abbey, telling stories of his travels near and far. Jenyeva was taken with these tales, and with the young priest himself. Curious to learn more, she sought him out, only to find him pilfering the chapel during the solitary prayer hour. She agreed not to raise the alarm, and even offered to show him a secret undercroft exit so he could escape with his loot... but only on the condition that he take her along with him to see the world.

After leaving the abbey, the scoundrel (who she came to know as Borsos) tried to lose or abandon young girl on several occasions, but each time she managed to find him again. Eventually, he began to recognize her potential as an accomplice. He saw how her tenacity and stealthiness could complement his various schemes, and so began to teach her the ways of thief and the swindler. Working as a team, they traveled the cities of Koshkovia, working various confidence jobs and small-time rackets.

And then, one day, Borsos abruptly disappeared. Jenyeva searched for him, as she had many times before, but this time no trace could be found. She was never quite sure if he'd made a good score and ditched her to avoid paying out, or if one of his scams had finally gotten him into more trouble than he could handle.

By this point, Jenyeva had become quite an adept thief and decided to find her own way in the world. Soon after, she teamed with another young pickpocket named Kischa, and the pair decided to travel south in search of bigger scores in the cities of the Kasparian Empire.

For a time, the two young women fared well, but after moving to the port city of Ascenzia, things took a bad turn. The duo was betrayed by their fence, and framed for stealing from the powerful Carabassi crime family. In retribution, the Carabassi murdered Kischa, and Jenyeva fled for her life. It was in these circumstances that her path crossed with the mercenary Mad Jack Tyrsson, the foreigner Kuan Yang, and a mysterious (yet oddly familiar) man going by the name Korvuus...
