Vosloo is a veteran mercenary from the northern lowlands of Torvaria - likely Voorhagen, based on his accent. After the war ended, he found work in the south as the bodyguard to the wealthy merchant Guiseppe Dorini, and followed him to Ladroa when Dorini was driven out of his San Belamo estate. His contract ended abruptly when he failed to prevent Dorini's murder at the hands of Kian Grey and the druid Korvuus (in retribution for the San Belamo affair.)
With the death of his patron, Vosloo returned to freelance work. He was laying low in Ladroa when he was recruited for the mission to capture Goran di Frezzi, a job he took in order to clear the books with Kian's companions.
He currently works as a bouncer and enforcer at Nino Arriaga's well-known Colegio gambling house “The Golden Branch." In truth he was installed there by Kian Grey (masquerading as the rogue Agila) in order to watch over the proprieter, trusting in the mercenary's fastidious adherence to his contracts, and the fact that the position is both relatively cushy and well-paid. This was a galling fact that Arriaga was only too aware of.
Vosloo is fond of snacking, and is usually seen with a piece of fruit in his hand, or absently chewing a piece of jerky. Despite his size, he moves with a lanky grace that could be mistaken for laxity, but which shifts to explosive speed and power in an instant.
As a soldier-for-hire, Vosloo's outlook is amoral, but with a strong professional ethic. As long as he is paid appropriately, he follows orders, fulfills his contracts, and doesn't take things personally. Vosloo displays a casual manner with a wry, deadpan wit. He often appears bored, and usually greets setbacks or injuries with pragmatic dispassion.
Like most northern mercenaries, Vosloo is proficient with polearms and infantry tactics, but his weapon of choice is a kriegmesser of prodigious length. He also knows his way around firearms, and owns two long matchlock muskets, which he has named Lotte and Hilda.
